Our steel roof deck is used as a foundation for flat steel deck, pitched, and arched roof systems because of their high strength-to-weight ratio of the steel ratio. Metal roof decking products act alone in transferring horizontal and vertical loads into the building frame. These steel roof decks can be left exposed for open ceiling designs or manufactured with added acoustical perforations. Additionally, steel roof decks are known to provide a solid work surface for the installation of insulation, weatherproofing, and roofing materials.
Along with superior customer support, D-MAC Industries proudly supplies the four most commonly used steel roof deck types to architects, steel fabricators, roofing contractors, general contractors, and builders in the United States. With help from D-MAC Industries, you’ll get metal decking materials shipped fast, so your project can save time and minimize budget spend. D-MAC Industries provides Type A steel roof decking, a Narrow Rib roof deck. Type A roof deck is a 1 ½” deep structural steel roof deck that supports various types of roofing materials. This specific type of roof deck is best used in conjunction with thinner rigid insulation.
Type A Steel Roof Deck is rarely used for new construction projects. Instead, Type A steel roof decks are often used in repair and re-roof projects. Compared to other types of steel roof deck, Type A has the lowest strength-to-weight ratio.
This type of steel roof deck has a 6” pitch and is available in a 22, 20, or 18 gauge. While metal roof decking can be produced in any material thickness between 16 and 22, special gauging will make the deck much more difficult to source. This type of steel roof deck is available in either a prime painted or galvanized steel decking finish.
Type B Metal Roof Deck 80 KSI (Wide Rib)
Type B roof deck, also known as Wide Rib Roof Deck, is one of the most commonly used metal roof decking for new construction projects, primarily due to its most efficient 1.5” deep steel roof deck. Type B has the highest strength-to-weight ratio and can carry higher loads and longer spans than both Type A and Type F roof decks.
D-MAC Industries stocks sheets of Type B steel roof deck and can cut them to any length. Type B steel roof decking is available in a variety of gauges including 16, 18, 20, and 22, and comes in either a prime painted or galvanized steel decking finish.
Characterized as Intermediate Rib Roof Deck, Type F steel roof deck is often needed for repair and re-roof projects. In comparison, Type F roof deck is less efficient than Type B Wide Rib roof deck and carries a lower load capacity than Type B roof deck as well.
You’ll find Type F steel roof decking available in 18, 20, or 22 gauges, and is available in prime painted grey over bare steel, as well as a galvanized finish, which is ideal for government projects and corrosive environments.
Type N Metal Roof Decks (Deep Rib)
Type N (Deep Wide Rib) roof decking is a 3” deep steel roof deck that’s suited for applications where it is desirable to space the supporting members as far apart as possible. Often used in gymnasiums and other large areas, Type N steel roof deck is perfect for minimizing the number of long span structural members. D-MAC Industries supplies high-quality deep rib steel roof deck in gauges of 16, 18, 20, and 22. If you are not sure which steel roof deck meets your needs, one of our experienced team members will be happy to help you.
